A good Friday report, first hot weather of spring, Saturday... what's not to like? Flags at Cole and Overland were starting to dance a little, and Perkins' at Federal Way was standing up. I was in the early shift, but not the earliest; Bruce was first on the water and reaching up fast.
It was a perfect opening day for me. Pretty well filled-in, and steady, making it a lot less work to get around. I sailed for 45 min. before I finally went in the water, at which point I had to work a bit to overcome that seizure reflex. I was ready for coolant, but not quite that cool.
The "usual" top end of my quiver, 6.9, and nicely powered-up. Great to get out sailing again, and to do it in mid-May for a change.
Jon Bolt noted that his car thermocouple was reading sub-50 through Harris Ranch, but then 60°F crossing the dam; our version of adiabatically heated Santa Anas? On a friendlier scale, no firestorms down in town.
We had 7 windsurfers and a couple of kites, Jon and Jason boosting around the lower lake while the old-timers cut up the channel. Backed off soon after 8am, easing to uninteresting well before 9, after I'd packed and gone.
Lake is within 10' of full, convenient for launching out of Barclay Bay, with our nice pea gravel rigging area, the Boise River has been dialed up to danger (5300 cfs, enough to flood the underpasses at the Glenwood bridge), and the old flume was fluming as I we drove down the hill. (Not like the pre-power plant days, but still nice to see.)
