Sailing Report
Steve Linane reports:
2:15 on the water 28G35 4.7, Chris Lee 4.5, Tom 4.2 [ the other Tom,
I'm sorry to say ] Lake Lowell is usually gusty but we had smooth
air today. Launched from the south shore off of Lakeshore drive, plenty
of room to launch a kite there, it was just too windy to kite. Gott's
Point is still closed.
Chris Lee provides a bit more detail, and a note to self:
Yeap, Lake Lowell went off today.
I started with 5.0 on my 90L board a little after 1pm. One reach out, made the survival jibe and came back in to rig down to 4.5. I then discovered I left my small board at home. (Note to self: don't do that again!)
The first couple hours was pretty good and then it went postal. On one reach I was so overpowered that I sailed all the way across the lake almost to the shore by the boat ramp before I found a little hole to jibe. On the way back, I was tail walking some even when I sheeted out. (Note to self again: don't forget the small board)
After that, it seems we all kind of decided not reaching all the way across the lake. The lulls were welcoming relief for me and I actualy was happy when they come about. (Final note to self: remember to take the small board).

It was fun and I'm glad we didn't go to Mtn. Home, as looks like it was gusting to the 50s there....
