It was windy at dawn, gusting over 40 out east at 7am and pushing the timid to the west. Eddy phoned in from Lowell at 2pm, "11-18 & cloudy go east," then 3 hours later, "Lake Lowell is on, but it looks like we have a large strom about 45 min. out."
Jim V didn't get the messages, reported the storm hitting around 7:15 and in the meantime had a "Great day on the water, but you had to work for it."
6.0 to 8.5 sails on Lake Lowell, full planes (mostly?), some slogs, some hiking. (Overnight low was in the 30s and snow in the mountains. In June!)
Meanwhile, Chris Lee saw the wind dropping off through the morning, went east, and found Chris N. bobbing for suckers on Mtn Home Res. "45 minutes later and it was blowing enough to entice me to rig but I never made it out because it was too fluky and the overcast sky made it feel pretty cold."
He took his first try of Bruneau arm of C.J., aka the pumphouse, found it "sailable and mostly sunny." "I rigged the 5.5 and hopped on my 100 liter slalom board. I slogged only a few times and was mostly powered up with a few high strung reaches. Managed to sail for almost an hour and a half before I decided to call it when the rain clouds threatened to move in."
