That's better.
I saw those 6:00 numbers—SSE 12!—and woke right up The flag at Perkins was starting to stand, and the one at the Diversion Dam had medium starch. Coming across the dam at 7-ish, there were two sailors up the throat and another getting going. Lovely signs.
Full parking lot at Barclay Bay (already?! I didn't sleep that late), and a wonderful time was had by all who attended, from what I could tell. Not seeing anything in the way of substantial waves, I rigged big (6.9), hooked in, and held on. Woo hoo! Nicely powered for a good while, and then the Lucky Peak afterburner kicked in, with the some substantial gusts. I staved off getting flattened one time, but another one caught me just as I turned into a jibe, and I couldn't get off the hook. The downside to shorty season: nothing to keep your knees from getting sanded when you get yanked into the sail.
The wind lasted well longer than me: at 9am, there were 6 boardsailors (of the dozen or so on the morning) and 6 kiters still going strong, as the weekend motor homes started coming out to get their vroom vroom on.
I imagine the kites kept going to noon if they wanted.
Just your classic 6.0 morning at the lake, with a filled-in, end of hot spell kicker.
Eddy addendum: It was still kite-able after 11 but Boat mania... I almost got run over. "Da kites are so Pretty, And I just learned how to drive a boat, look at me!"
